Transplant/Biopresence was first presented in May 2002 at the Interaction Design Studio at the RCA A Project by Georg Tremmel and Shiho Fukuhara

Trans-Plant is based on two biological facts.
1. The total base number of the DNA of a tree can be much higher than the total base number of the human DNA.
2. Only genes carry the heritage informatin of an organism, and only a relativly small part of the DNA is used for genes. The rest, the space in between, is superficial, junk DNA. (jDNA)
Trans-Plant proposes to replace the jDNA of a tree with the complete DNA of a human being. Although the jDNA has no obvious function, it will get replicated on propagated on future generations. Our main concern with this project was how the relationship to a Trans-Planted Human Tree would change. Can it be a memorial service for a recently deceased person? Or what if you would put the DNA of an aborted fetus into a tree? What about the conservation of those tree? Would it change the city landscape? How would this fact alter our perception and behaviour towards these trees?
Or:
Would you eat an apple from your grandma tree?
